Lord and Taylor Hires Former Home Depot CMO

Roger Adams

Lord and Taylor has named former Home Depot Chief Marketing officer Roger Adams to its top marketing post.

As the retailer’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer, a new post, Adams will oversee brand management, creative and media services, consumer relationship management, market research, consumer insights, Internet marketing and sales promotion.

He reports to Jane Elfers, Lord and Taylor’s president and CEO.

Adams previously worked as chief marketing officer at The Home Depot. He left in October after one year on the job (Promo Xtra, Oct. 17, 2007).

Before that, Adams worked as executive director of corporate advertising at General Motors Corp, where he was in charge of corporate advertising, marketing, media and events. In 2003, he was general manager of GM’s Buick, Pontiac and GMC division.
Prior to that, Adams was vice president of marketing, research and development at Keebler Co.

Adams appointment is part of Lord and Taylor’s $10 million re-branding campaign, which launched last August. The initiative is aimed at modernizing the store's image while celebrating its 182-year-old heritage. Print ads, billboards, shopping bags and signage support the campaign.

In other news, Lord and Taylor has launched a contest, which invites people to recreate the retailer’s signature rose that is showcased on its shopping bags, boxes, gift cards and store signage. The promotion is open to artists, graphic designs and photographers. Submissions will be accepted through May 26 at http://www.lordandtaylor.com/rosescontest.

The top 60 entries will be selected and the images will be posted on the web site on June 9. Visitors can vote for their favorite. The winner, who will be announced July 2, will receive $10,000 and have his or her artwork featured in the store’s flagship Fifth Avenue awnings, windows, shopping bags, boxes, gift cards and signage.
